Willie Nelson owed the IRS over $16 million in back taxes, penalties and interest. So in 1990, they raided his home and seized his assets. Willie managed to sing his way out of it, by selling some of his memorabilia and releasing an album called “The IRS Tapes,” the proceeds of which were shared with the IRS.
